Affirmative Action
Because California State University, East Bay ("CSUEB")
has federal contracts and/or subcontracts, it is required by federal
law to develop a written affirmative action program for women and minorities
in compliance with Executive Order 11246 ("EO 11246"), for
disabled veterans and Vietnam-era veterans ("Veterans") in
compliance with the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Act of 1974
(38 USC 4212), as amended ("VEVRA"), and for individuals
with disabilities in compliance with Section 503 of the Rehabilitation
Act of 1973 ("Rehab Act"). Affirmative action means to recruit
and advance qualified minorities, women, persons with disabilities,
and Veterans in employment. Accordingly, affirmative action must take
place in all aspects of employment, i.e., recruitment, selection, job
assignment, promotion, compensation, discipline, termination, access
to benefits, training and other personnel actions.
The Director of Equity and Diversity
has responsibility for implementation of the Affirmative Action programs.
Accordingly, questions should be directed to her.
